Self Monitoring Eating Habits

Self-monitor your eating and drinking to decide if they need to change. You will not be able to tell whether you are overeating (including what you drink). Do not rely on hunches or general impressions. They are notoriously inaccurate and unreliable. People just don't remember accurately what they eat and drink, nor how much. Even if you did, you will still need to work out the energy value of your food and drink so that you can compare your present daily energy intake with the recommended daily total for your ideal body weight.

If you have already decided to make some changes to your eating habits after reading and to draw up and start a sensible eating plan, then you should work out the daily energy value of what you plan to eat. The question you need to answer first is whether or not you are (or plan to be) overeating, including the energy value of your drinks.
