The Use of Metal in the Microwave |

With the exception of aluminum foil, metal should not be used in the
microwave oven. This is because metal reflects microwaves away from the
food rather than allowing them to pass through. Aluminum foil, however,
is helpful because it can be used to shield areas that might get
overcooked. When thawing frozen foods, you can use small pieces of
foil to protect already thawed outer edges which may begin to cook
before the center of the food is fully thawed. It is important not to
allow the foil to come in contact with the oven walls as
this can cause damage to the microwave. |
