Le Pentole

Le Pentole is an Italian range of pans which has only just been introduced in England. The range include various saucepans, a steamer, a bain-marie and frying pans; the pans fit on top of each other so in theory you could steam, bake and warm at the same from one gar or electric ring.

 

What does make Le Pentole so special is that you can actually cook meat in the frying pan without adding any fat or liquid. The reason, according to the manufacturers, is the pan's thick base which acts as a most effective heat-conducting agent.

 

Made from steel, silver alloy and copper, the pans may be heavy to handle but they certainly conduct an incredible amount of heat. The base is first heated and then the meat is added; provided the base id hot enough the meat will neither stick or burn. Once it is sufficiently browned, flavorings can be added in the normal way; the pan is covered with its lid which is fitted with a vapour stop so none of the liquid can evaporate. The meat is left to cook for the appropriate time.
