Cinnamon-Apple Farina

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups water

1 1/2 ounces uncooked quick-cooking farina

2 tbsp dried currants or dark raisins

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Dash salt

1/2 cup applesauce (no sugar added)

1 tbsp maple syrup

2 tsp margarine

1/2 cup low-fat milk(1% milk fat)


Method

  • In small saucepan bring water to a boil; gradually stir in farina, currants (or raisin), cinnamon and salt.

  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until liquid is absorbed and mixture thickens, 2 to 3 minutes.

  • Stir in applesauce.

  • To serve, divide cereal into 2 cereal bowls; top each portion with half of the syrup, margarine, and milk.
